Current Priorities
We serve on a fairly new team to share God's love with Cousins in Southern Thailand. Some of the doors He has opened for us are teaching English in a school for blind children, discipling and playing sports with boys at a juvenile detention centre, teaching leadership principles in nearby universities and hanging out with our neighbours and their kids. The recent flood has opened many doors as well, praise the Lord!
Vision
Our Vision
To see the people of South Thailand reached with the gospel, having 200,000 disciples of Christ.
Our Purpose
We exist to live the abundant life in Jesus Christ and share it with the people living in South Thailand.
Bio
Derek grew up in Markham, ON. Bonnie was born in Saigon, Vietnam, to C&MA workers. They met at Canadian Bible College in Regina and married in 1993.
Derek grew up in a Christian family but committed his life to Christ in his pre-teen years. In high school he developed a passion for law and began preparing for that vocation until, in grade 13, the Lord took away his passion for law and replaced it with a burden for missions. Later that year on May 1, 1988, during a missions’ conference, he responded to God’s invitation to serve as a missionary.
Bonnie believed in God her whole life, but coming from a missionary family — everyone but one served the Lord full-time — she told God she would do anything but that. One night, He asked her what her heart's desire would be, and she answered, "I love to teach the Bible... and I love other cultures." She heard God then say, “So, what’s the problem?”
Derek and Bonnie have been involved in a variety of different ministries since they landed in Bangkok, in 1999, (leadership training, church planting, teaching at the Bible School) but most recently have begun a work in southern Thailand, with a focus on reaching Thai 'Cousins'.
