Overview:
The Technical Director oversees all audio, video, lighting, livestream, and IT systems at Gateway Church. This role ensures excellent, distraction-free production that supports worship and ministry, while leading and developing a strong volunteer team. The Technical Director is highly organized, self-motivated, and thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
This individual brings strong expertise in AVL systems within a church setting and plays a key role in shaping the creative and technical elements of services. A background in videography is an asset for enhancing storytelling and communication.

Key Responsibilities
Service & Event Production
• Lead all technical aspects of weekend services and special events
• Oversee audio, video, lighting, presentation, and livestream systems
• Ensure consistent, high-quality production that enhances worship
• Troubleshoot technical issues efficiently
• Prepare and manage all video and media elements for services
• Produce and distribute weekly service content (including teaching uploads)
• Create and edit video content for services and social media
• Coordinate production resources and service plans
Team Leadership & Volunteer Development
• Recruit, train, schedule, and support volunteer tech teams
• Provide coaching in audio, video, lighting, and media roles
• Build a healthy, team-oriented culture focused on excellence
• Develop clear systems, workflows, and training resources
• Equip volunteers for growth and increased responsibility
IT & Systems Management
• Provide technical support for staff and ministry needs
• Manage user accounts and digital platforms (e.g., Google Workspace)
• Oversee network performance, storage, and backups
• Maintain and optimize AVL systems and livestream setups
• Ensure all equipment is functional, organized, and documented
Planning & Collaboration
• Collaborate with pastors, worship leaders, and creative teams
• Participate in service planning to align technical execution with ministry goals
• Support church-wide events (conferences, weddings, funerals, outreach)
Budget & Administration
• Develop and manage the technical ministry budget
• Research and recommend equipment purchases
• Track inventory and maintain vendor relationships
• Oversee system maintenance, upgrades, and repairs

Qualifications
Required:
• Experience in live production (church or similar environment)
• Strong knowledge of audio systems and working understanding of video and lighting
• Proven leadership and team development experience
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Preferred:
• Experience in a church or ministry setting
• Familiarity with digital consoles, ProPresenter, and livestream platforms
• Basic networking and IT knowledge
• Ability to train and equip volunteers effectively
